Really happy to to show you all the 2nd instalment of the Wall Of Sound Sessions – Studio videos recorded completely live, with no editing, overdubs or automation… This is as close as you can get to seeing a band live without leaving your La-Z-Boy 😉

This months session features Edinburgh’s progressive, post metal masters Somaesthesia performing exclusive tracks from their new album which is still in progress.

Wall Of Sound Sessions – Sapien

Towards the end of 2017, me & my pal Bailey Junior of Scapegoat.tv had the idea of doing live studio sessions with some of the best bands knocking around the Scottish metal scene at the moment. The idea was to capture the bands in as natural a way as possible… These videos have absolutely no edits or overdubs & only minimal mixing. What you get is pretty much what happened on the day.

Recorded live in one take, I give you SAPIEN

If you would be interested in taking part in one of these sessions or have any other recording/mixing projects you would like to talk to me about, please do get in touch.

Cheers 🙂

Autumn 2017

Had quite a lot on on here recently with some great bands coming through the Studio!

First up I had Juniper Grave in recording their first demo tracks. We tracked pretty much everything in a day, with Vocals being the only overdub. Really enjoyed working on this and if you’re into Occult blues rock with a slice of doom then check them out!!

Next in were Inverness’ finest, Slioch. Back in to record their second EP with me. Always fun to work with these guys & the new EP turned out Great!

I also had Michael Branagh back in working on a his new song Autmnal!

Lastly, I have had NNGNN back in mixing a live show they had recorded London. Quite intense stuff to work on but it’s sounding pretty good so far… Will update with details when I have them.

Looking forward a couple of weeks & I have Dolour & Black Market Tyrants coming in to the Studio 🙂

Michael Branagh

Over the last few months I have had the pleasure of working on some solo material for Michael Branagh. Mostly based around layering keyboard parts & vocals it has been a lot of fun to work on. All the songs were recorded & mixed in less than 6 hours & I have to say it’s really fun blasting songs out this quickly 🙂

Anyway, you can check out his stuff below & there will hopefully be a full album coming in 2018

Enjoy!!

Gareeda – The Director’s Half-Cut

This week see’s the official release of the new Gareeda record “The Director’s Half-Cut”.

A selection of older songs the band wanted to re-record along with a few new tracks thrown into the mix. This was recorded here around October time in 2016 but the mixing didn’t get finished until March 2017…. It’s been quite a long road with this one but it turned out pretty good!

Check it out below

Cheers!

Psychotic Depression – Thirty Hours Work Or Less

February 2017 saw Psychotic Depression coming into the studio to record their debut ep ‘Thirty Hours Work Or Less’.

The guys fairly rattled through the recording process and the mixing was completed fairly quickly aswell!

I’m really happy with how it all turned out  & you can check it out below… For fans of The Obsessed & Trouble

A Lake Of Ghosts

Last year I recorded & mixed Of Spire & Throne’s re-working of the My Dying Bride classic “My Wine In Silence”.
It was included on Doom-metal.com’s 2 disc tribute to My Dying Bride which is available now!

https://doom-metal-com.bandcamp.com/album/a-lake-of-ghosts-the-long-shadow-of-my-dying-bride

This was quite a lot of fun to work on as the whole thing was recorded & mixed very quickly. The guys wanted a very rough & ready sound to counter the usual, over produced sound of MDB.
Check it out & also check out the other fantastic contributions to this compilation!

Enjoy!
